Dr. Robert Litchfield is the Medical Director of
the Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic in London, an Associate Professor in
the Department of Surgery at the University of Western Ontario and the past
Angus D. McLachlin Chair. His research and clinical interest is in the area of
shoulder and knee reconstructive surgery. He is involved in several clinical
trials funded through the Canadian Institutes for Health Research (CIHR), and
is principal investigator or co-investigator for an additional 10 randomized
clinical trials. He is a founding member of the research group JOINTS Canada,
whose focus is multicentered RCT's involving common conditions of the shoulder.
He is extensively involved in surgical education through his role as the
Director of Education for the Canadian Surgical Technologies and Advanced
Robotics centre in the Lawson Research Institute at the London Health Sciences
Centre. Dr. Litchfield is past
president of the medical staff organization for the London Health Sciences
Centre and has served on the Board of Directors for the hospital. He holds
memberships in the American Shoulder and Elbow Society, American Academy of
Orthopaedic Surgeons, Herodicus Society, the Arthroscopy Association of North
America and the Canadian Academy of Sport Medicine.
