While working as a large
animal surgeon, he developed a career interest in comparative aspects of joint
injuries and sports medicine that led to work in cell & molecular biology,
biomechanics, biochemistry, and imaging. This led to the establishment of his
current laboratory where his time is split between working with investigators
and graduate students from industrial and academic collaborations. He is lead
investigator for two human knee injury research studies centered in Toronto (www.proknee.ca), funded by CIHR and by the
Canadian Arthritis Network. The
main focus of his laboratory is to provide access to animal models and by
maintaining a strong relationship with clinician-scientists, accelerate the
arrival of new therapies in the clinical environment. His laboratory has been a
center for preclinical development of cartilage repair and arthritis therapies. Projects Available
