Dianne BryantDianne Bryant

Dr. Dianne Bryant is an Assistant Professor in the School of Physical Therapy, Faculty of Health Sciences and in the Department of Surgery in the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, at the University of Western Ontario. She is also a Part-time Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Epidemiology & Biostatistics at McMaster University and the Director of Empower Health Research Inc.

She is recognized as an outstanding researcher demonstrating leadership and creativity in the development of study methodology to facilitate research in surgery and rehabilitation. She is a highly skilled methodologist and an expert in conducting systematic reviews, randomized trials, diagnostic validity studies, risk factor identification, surveys and cohort studies. Dr. Bryant’s research is focused on four themes.

  1. development and evaluation of new methodological issues and novel research designs,
  2. identifying common methodological shortcomings and providing a framework for educational discussion to improve the validity of future research designs,
  3. development and evaluation of outcomes measures, and
  4. clinical studies.

Her research has been recognized with awards from the Cochrane Review Incentive Scheme in the UK and was nominated for the Richard Caspari Award by The International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine in 2009.
